What is eligible for funding?
Grant funding is available for
programs and services that demonstrate innovation in parks and recreation services for the agency submitting the grant application, with future applicability for other agencies at a local, regional, or state-wide level. Applications that are innovative to the field of Parks and Recreation as a whole are desired. New or innovative programs that are specific to a city will also be considered.
What is excluded?
Capital improvements like buildings and structures, funding for existing programs and services, on-going expenses and costs incurred prior to the award of the grant are not eligible.
• Each grant must have a sponsoring agency (government or non-profit).
• Applicants must be a MRPF member, or their sponsoring agency must be a MRPF member.
• Grants must be matched by resources, supplies or funds.
• Grant funds must be expended within the agency's current or upcoming fiscal year in which they were awarded.
• One submission per agency, per grant cycle.
If the initiative that is being funded is not implemented, recipients are required to return funds to the Foundation.

3. Disbursement of grant funds will be done on a reimbursement basis. Copies of receipts or invoices for incurred expenses equaling the full grant amount must be submitted for reimbursement. Must be submitted by dates noted on application.
4. Recipients may be required, as applicable/appropriate, to include the MRPF logo or other forms of recognition, on relevant items (i.e., promotional materials, tangible items, social media, etc.).
Grant applications will be reviewed by a panel of Foundation Board Members. Evaluations will be based on the criteria:
• Innovative approach to a program or service.
• Community need or support.
• Feasibility or likelihood that the program or service could be used by other agencies throughout Minnesota.
• How the program will be assessed

We award an annual grant to MRPF professional members who aspire to attend a national conference or seminar. Recipients are awarded up to $2,000 for conference registration, travel arrangements, and lodging.
